Newlove Pottery

IMG_3600.JPEG

Having had several decades to experiment with clay and glazes I respect the endless possibilities for ceramic artists. From wheel work to slab structures, it is necessary to continue learning new techniques that share my vision with others. Staying true to what clay is, my work has broken edges, pierced surfaces and gritty textures.  Understanding the control of climate, balance of form, principles of design and above all, patience, is the wisdom only gained through trying.  I prefer raku firing as it offers an exciting result with delightful surprises.  My roots are deep in traditional pottery, yet I work with intent to learn what lies ahead in the world of glaze chemistry, screened imaging and 3-D printing.  It is important to remember that all we create today will be relics found in the future, telling our current story.  I strive to leave my best visual voice.
